Mark Twain once said “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
I agree, how you feel about aging will determine how you age. There is so much we can do to keep ourselves vital, active and engaged fully in life.
I have always been fascinated with the function of the brain, having a psychology back ground and having been a social worker. When I began my complimentary approach to healing; I was amazed at how the brain can shift and what we thought was “our lot in life” is absolutely not the case. The brain is Nueroplastic “The brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life and can shift and change as we give it what it needs to thrive; like good food, life enhancing thoughts”, and exercise (not just the regular exercise) but exercises for the brain.
When I was a social worker I started a lunch time group with children who were learning disabled. Many of these children were on my caseload. I had just started learning complimentary modalities and had taken a course on Educational Kinesiology ( brain gym). Here I was with 18 children, bouncing off the walls in a gymnasium. The noise level was pretty high. I did a series of movements with them, called Pace, part of brain gym that helps to rewire and integrate the right and left lobe of the brain. The last part of this process is called a positive position and I had all the children lying on the floor, as quiet as could be and totally relaxed. When the teacher came in she was shocked and said.” What did you give them”? Wow what a shift! It was very gratifying to see these normally hyper children, being able to focus and be still.
This was an amazing example to me of how the brain can be rewired. Personally I have done brain gym for 20 yrs. and will continue doing it.
I believe there are 3 components to “KICK ASS AGING”
1)What you feed your brain is critical for its optimal functioning. The right nutrients like B vitamins and other quality supplements, blueberries, broccoli. This list is long. These can make a big difference in how your brain ages. With high quality nutrients the brain can restore itself and have healthy cells that are vibrant and help you stay focused.
2) Rewiring the brain as I have shown above. Change your thinking and feeling states and do exercises like brain gym and meditate. All these will help to rewire the brain to make it work for you.
3) The mother of it all is attitude! How do you feel about aging? What is your language around it? I hear it everywhere about the “Boomer Brain”, negative stories that we tell our selves about aging that then become a self full filling prophecy. We use age as a limiting factor.
Be self aware. Monitor what you say and think about the aging process.

There are so many wonderful stories of people who reinvent themselves at all ages.
This needs to be what we focus on, not the limitations. Our Collective consciousness is full of limiting stories around this time in our lives. It’s time to change those stories. We can be, do, have anything, at any age, when we believe we can. There is power much grander then our minds can fathom and when we tap into his, miracles can happen.

Tip # 1 Eat high quality foods , mentioned above and give the brain cells the nourishment it needs to stay vital.
Tip # 2 Do some form of exercise, like brain gym to rewire the brain.
Tip # 3 Cultivate an Attitude of gratitude and clean up your consciousness.
Lead with your heart and start cultivating positive thoughts and feelings. Heal old resentments and focus on an attitude of gratitude. Focus on the divine intelligence that we all have access to and use this power for the common good.
I believe we have the ability to age with grace and make this time of our lives work for us and totally reinvent ourselves. The choice is ours!
